What happens at the Schlosskeller?
Schlosskeller’s constantly changing programme offers a diverse mix of contemporary music and entertainment. Our events calendar features rock, blues, soul and jazz concerts as well as German Schlager evenings. Disco nights with themes such as Classic Disco, 80s/90s or Funk & Soul round off the programme.
Our regular Thursday Jam Sessions with an open stage are particularly popular. Over the years, they have become a meeting place for amateur and professional musicians from across the Wetterau region, Hanau and even as far afield as Seligenstadt and Aschaffenburg.
Instruments and technical equipment available at the Schlosskeller can be used during the Jam Sessions. What happens on stage is arranged spontaneously between the musicians. No advance registration is required. Bands interested in performing as the opening act for a session are welcome to contact us in advance.
The musicians’ creativity and talent make every evening unique. Through their interaction with one another and with a music-loving audience, familiar songs are constantly transformed into new interpretations and unexpected musical moments.
Various workshops, including drumming and percussion workshops, complement our programme.
Opening hours
Our opening hours vary depending on the event. Weekend concerts and our Thursday Jam Session usually start at 9 pm. Doors generally open one hour earlier.

How long the Schlosskeller stays open depends on the event. Concerts and Jam Sessions may run until 11 pm, midnight or a bit later.
Private events and venue hire
The Schlosskeller is a popular venue for weddings, birthdays and celebrations of all kinds. Both the indoor venue and the garden area can be hired for private events.

History
Schlosskeller is located in the former wine cellar of Windecken Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, and has a long history as a cultural and live music venue.
Schlosskeller was founded by Nicole Stahlberg, an enthusiastic and, at the time, completely inexperienced single mother of three. With a great deal of courage and initiative, she created a meeting place for live music enthusiasts from the Wetterau and Main-Kinzig regions. Since then, Schlosskeller has hosted a wide variety of live events on a regular basis.
After years of overcoming challenges both large and small, Schlosskeller faced an existential threat in 2014. The castle was sold to a private group of investors who had other plans for the cellar and its adjoining garden. The lease was at risk of being terminated, which would have meant the end of this popular club.
Alarmed by the prospect of losing this cultural venue, around 80 committed friends and supporters came together to form the non-profit Kulturverein Windecker Schlosskeller e.V. Their common goal was to preserve it as an event venue and ensure that it could continue operating.
Today, Schlosskeller is run by the Kulturverein Windecker Schlosskeller e.V. The association organises the cultural programme, takes care of the preservation and operation of the club, and above all relies on the dedication of its members and supporters. Find out more about our association.
